Accommodation

Accommodation is in bunk rooms. Each room is built from cinder blocks and has its own timed heater. Bunkrooms sleep between 4 and 11 people.

There is plenty of room for people to tent if they so wish.

Off site accommodation will be available at the Parklands Motel, which is situated just before the turn off to Moores Road, a 5 minute drive away. The Parklands hotel has 8 units, some of which sleep 2, and some of which sleep 4. The cost is $90 a night for 2 people, and $15 for each extra person. Continental and cooked breakfasts are available. The shuttle bus will pick people up at 8:30 each morning from the Parklands Motel to take them to site. Their website is www.parklandsmotel.co.nz

Getting There

Brookfields is a 30 to 40 minute drive (depending on time of day) from the centre of Wellington.

We will be providing a shuttle service to and from site for the cost $15 per person each way. Time permitting the shuttle will stop at a supermarket and bottle store on the way, to allow you to pick up any necessities.

Getting to Wellington

Wellington has an international airport just 15 minutes from the city centre with direct flights to Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Wellington is also a domestic flight hub, with frequent flights to all main New Zealand centres.

There will be a dedicated meet and greet service at the airport. A small team will meet you as you disembark from your flight. After collecting your luggage you will be escorted to a seating area where you will be provided with a drink and a bite to eat until the next shuttle service arrives. You’ll be able to complete site check in procedures at the airport.

Arts and Sciences

The Kingdom Arts and Sciences competition is open to any gentle in Lochac. The 3 categories that will be judged at May Crown are:

  • Favours - stitches, painting, etc. (must be documented)
  • Period Arrows - includes quarrels and bolts
  • Household item - open - any item used in a home 600-1600AD

Items entered in the categories must be relevant to that category and each item entered must be accompanied by documentation. Each entry is judged and given a score out of a maximum of 50 points.

Points awarded will count towards the Annual A&S Championship. Three or more entries are required in each category for that category to count towards the Annual A&S Championship. Where there are fewer than three entries, the entries may still be considered for the Event Champion.

The token for winning a Kingdom A&S Competition category is a silver bell on a red, white & blue ribbon
