SCA Darton Council minutes 11 Feb 2015 

(NB no January Council meeting)

Venue: Stephen and Tam's place

Present: Jenny, Laura, Richard, Charly, Phil, Tam, Stephen, Peter, Helen, Selwyn, Robyn, Dave (arrived part way through)

Apologies: none (though received Alastair R's via phone about 20 min post meeting closed)

Meeting opened 7:19pm

Motion: Minutes from 10 Dec be accepted (Peter), seconded (Richard), passed

Officers reports:Reeve (Charly):Q3 report handed in and accepted. Helen volinteered to step up as reeve.

To facilitate changing bank accounts (confirming from previous council minutes)

Motion: That a Kiwibank account be opened for the Shire of Darton as soon as
possible and that the Kiwibank account signatories be Jennifer McSaveney
(Seneschal), Helen Lyon (incoming reeve), Dillon Burke (SCANZ representative).
 Old account to be left open for clearing, then closed once funds transfered.
(Peter) seconded (Charly), passed.

Noted that need to make sure handover of reeve position is in hand for this to
take place.

Marshal (Stephen):Heavy- Weekly Sunday Practice has recommenced.  4-6 fighters
attending.  A second Tuesday practice attended by 2-4 is primarily for
technique and slow work. Luan an Fael has reauthorized in heavy, heavy marshal
and senior marshal.Fencing- Continuing weekly practice on Wednesday nights.
 4-7 fencers attending.  Two new fencers are now attending.

Seneschal (Jenny): Quality of council minutes mentioned, passed on email re
Heraldic melee at Rowany Festival

Future events:Newcomer Welcome to SCA event proposal received from Helen for
Sat 14 March. Costs as per event budget form - site hire $150 + bond $150.
Potluck picnic/BBQ at Hardwick Smith Lounge, Belmont Domain, Lower Hutt. Key
needs to be picked up head and then dropped off (LHCC, can be via Huia Pool)
after. No event fee.

Motion: that event go forward (Tam) seconded (Selwyn),
passed

Archery practice (Selwyn):1st and 3rd Sunday of the month, Karaka Park,
Wainuiomata. Site booked form 10-4p, but advertise 1-3pm. To be advertised as
a official practice.
Motion: that this be an official Darton SCA archery
practice (Selwyn), seconded (Richard), passed

Combat archery event discussed (Richard and Selwyn) for early April (same
venue as Archery). To do combat archery authorisations and have a go.
Picnic/potluck after, no event fee. weather permitting. Bid to be prepared for
next council.

Selwyn proposes to step up as Darton Captain of Archers - to talk to Deputy
earl marshal (archery) - Kerry re process.
