Council minutes 08th June 2016

Meeting opened 7.20pm

Officer reports:
Seneschal:
Website updated with minutes from previous council. DA and Collegium events on the website.
Report went to Kingdom, no issues.
Reeve: no incoming or outgoing for May. Account balance $3439.39. still to be presented is cheque for bond for Collegium Hall hire, $250.00.
NZ audit going well. Aliena to supervise DA payments while Helewys is away.
Marshal: One injury last month, though not due to anyone doing anything unsafe. Report sent to Kingdom. Fighting continues.
Luan has a plan in place to get some of the fcmc guys turning up to practice regularly.
Captain of Archers: archery continues. New drainage on karaka park means ground is far less boggy than it used to be after rain. Archery will continue in winter if clear weather continues. Would be nice to do some combat archery and ikac practice before CF.
What would people like to shoot? Could maybe do an ikac or combat archery games one weekend a month.
Wainui Council is happy to let us use siege weapons on site so long as we observe safe practices, as with Archery.

Events:
Da - Bernard now steward as Luans health and recovery are a priority. Book now, book often!
Collegium - Luan happy to a class on bows and shooting technique if people are keen (theory only - site I not equipped for practical and safe archery)

General business
Names and privacy
It was brought to my attention that using people's real names in published council minutes could be a violation of their privacy under NZ legislation. I gave the members present the option of using their sca or mundane names for future council minutes. Most members are relaxed, though a couple noted that the nature of their work means they are more vunerable to awful people.
As such, these and future minutes will be noted as Sca first names only (except where legal names are needed for banking purposes).

Container for Darton/Ildhafn at Canterbury Faire
Earlier in the year, I brought up the possibilty of Darton and Ildhafn purchasing a storage container to be left on site at Canterbury Faire. There was some discussion about what this would entail.
Points of note:
..who would bear the initial cost?
..how do we divide the initial and ongoing cost between the two groups?
..how do we manage the risk of the site moving and the relocation costs involved?
..what is the value for Dartonites who don't attend CF?
..what do we put in it?
..the ildhafn Seneschal is looking into container costs and I will look into costs for shelving for the interior
..ildhafn Seneschal and I have discussed what we could store in it, maybe having some storage space to rent out to offset the ongoing costs, maybe having some militia/war shields/tents to loan out to people travelling to the event

Luan voted to continue the conversation when we have more information on cost/benefit/risk.
Aliena seconded, all present in favour and none against.

Siege weapons
We should build siege weapons! It'd be a neat thing to do at Faire. Madeleine will talk to the other Seneschals in NZ and cackle madly while planning.
