Membership and Authorisation cards – if you have not yet received yours, please contact the SCANZ Registrar for a replacement card – as it is looking like the envelopes are not being recognised by the postal machines because they are too thin.  The Registrar will reissue and include a blank page of paper in the envelope to bulk it out.

Halloween – Fighting and Feasting report:
Halloween happened. It was nice. We had about 10 people fighting, no injuries.

Feast was delicious - my thanks to Jay.

Thanks also to Kazamira and Sophie for the festive activities and decorations, and everyone who pitched in to make set up and packdown a breeze. We should do more small events like this.

Please book!  There have only been a couple of bookings and payments so far.  Booking close 5pm 6 December 2020.
The stewards require the some equipment – a list will be sent to Helewys to arrange for delivery.

Viking Festival – 6 & 7 February 2021.
We have received a flyer about this.  Anyone interested in going?  Could be an opportunity for recruitment / information spreading?  However, it is a week after Canterbury Faire!

General Business:
The final Council meeting for the year will be on 9 December 2020.
Council meetings commencing in 2021 will be organised by Miles and Caitriona.

Swords for Fencing

Gordianus is organising an order from the US for some personal fencing equipment (swords etc), and as it would be an opportune time to also order some equipment for the Shire.  

The Shire currently has furniture for 4 swords but no blades.  

Discussion was that it is sensible for the Shire to have a couple of complete swords to be used for training of new members, and also to have a couple of swords located in the Hamlet for the training of new members there.

It was recommended that 2 masks, gorgets and swords be located in the Hamlet from the Shire.

Approved the spending of up to NZ$1,400 for the purchase of fencing swords (and any other equipment necessary so enable the Hamlet to have the 2 sets of equipment) for new-comers to practice with.
